These Rings

Two hearts are drawn together in love. They choose to walk through life as one—to share its joys and burdens, its victories and sorrows. They long to remain side by side, and before the eyes of family, friends, and the world, they declare their commitment.

They exchange two simple rings and place them on each other’s ring finger. These rings become a visible symbol of an invisible reality: a covenant of faithful love.

They silently proclaim a sacred promise:

„I will be there for you. I will honor and cherish you, protect you, remain faithful to you, and stand beside you in sickness and in times of trouble.“

Wedding rings bear witness to a covenant made before those gathered in celebration. Yet they are also witnessed by God Himself. Whether we acknowledge His presence or not, He is there. Nothing is hidden from His sight.

Still, His blessing is not received automatically. We must willingly turn our hearts toward Him and remain connected to Him.

When Christ is at the center of our marriage, we can face the future with confidence. We do not need to know what tomorrow holds, because He already does. It is enough to know the One who holds tomorrow in His hands.

For we live by faith, not by sight. 2. Corinthians 5,7 (NIV)

Whatever lies ahead, He walks with us. He strengthens us when we are weak, gives wisdom when we do not know the way, and provides hope when our own strength fails. He is the Cornerstone upon whom every lasting marriage must be built.

As long as our trust rests not merely in ourselves but in God, a marriage can endure and flourish. What gives lasting strength to a marriage is not the beauty of the ceremony, but the sincerity of the promise—a promise deeply rooted in hearts surrendered to Him.

If a wedding is only a beautiful celebration, an impressive ceremony, or an outward display without an inward commitment, its splendor will soon vanish like mist in the morning.

Marriage is far more than a romantic declaration. It is a sacred covenant—a lifelong promise that endures until death parts husband and wife.

Every covenant requires two willing partners. Both must embrace the same commitment and faithfully keep the same promise.

The marriage covenant is not forged in gold but in the heart. It is there that it is sealed. The rings simply reveal outwardly what has already been established inwardly.

During the most difficult season of my life, I became so overwhelmed by stress that I often forgot to eat. At another time, I chose to fast for an extended season. On both occasions my body grew thinner, and so did my hands.

One wedding ring slipped from my finger—perhaps caught inside a glove—and was lost. Another slipped off while I was unloading the trunk of my car. Neither ring was ever found again.

From that day on, I no longer wore a visible sign of my marriage.

Yet nothing had changed where it mattered most.

In my heart, I remained—and still remain—united with my husband.

Because marriage is, above all else, a covenant of the heart.

The Golden Rule

„Do to others as you would have them do to you.“  Luke 6:31  (NIV)

The Greatest Commandments

Jesus answered:

„The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.“
„The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.“
Mark 12:29–31  (NIV)
